As Co-Rapporteur of the special committee on tax rulings (TAXE) I would like to invite you to a seminar organised by the ALDE group that I am hosting together with my colleague Nils Torvalds MEP on Tuesday, 26th May 2015 from 12.00 to 14.00 in the European Parliament.

In the light of the LuxLeaks revelations, ALDE MEPs were in November 2014 the first to call for a special committee to investigate the practices of tax evasion and avoidance. However, only in February 2015 has the „Special Committee on Tax Rulings and Other Measures Similar in Nature or Effect (TAXE)“ been set up, which is due to finish its work within 6 months. Given this very short period of time and the high complexity of the subject matter, ALDE would like to create more awareness about the work of the committee and give participants of this seminar the possibility to get a deeper understanding and discuss the issues at stake with a range of high-level experts, such as Dr Achim Doerfer, author of „Die Steuervermeider“ („The Tax Avoiders“).

The seminar will be in English (no interpretation) and web-streamed.
